Crochet Tomato Pattern Step By Step Text & Picture Tutorial

Even though I crochet frequently, I still tend to miss stitches easily.

So I recommend beginners to fasten the marking button (the yellow one in this article) when we finish the first stitch.

Count the total number of stitches after crocheting this round：30 st.

Then crochet sl, R11 is completed.

Crochet order：(3sc,dec ) repeat 6 times

When there are five stitches left in this round ,then crochet

3inc,dec again.

Count the total number of stitches after crocheting this round：24 st.

Then crochet sl, R12 is completed.

Crochet order：(sc,dec,sc ) repeat 6 times

When there are four stitches left in this round ,then crochet

sc,dec,sc again.

Count the total number of stitches after crocheting this round：18 st.

Through the 4 rounds of decreasing stitches, We can see that the closing is slowly.

Starting from the 14th , we need to add the filler to the hole of body.

We can use the index finger of our right hand or use a piece of tweezers to slowly to add fiberfill.

Don’t fill it too full, or the stitches will feel tight.

Don’t make it too soft, or the fabric will lose its shape.

Fiberfill is completed.

Crochet order：(dec) repeat 6 times

When there are two stitches left in this round ,then crochet

dec again.

Because of the added fiberfill, it may not be easy to crochet for next, we need to be patient.

Count the total number of stitches after crocheting this round：6st.

Then crochet sl, R15 is completed.

Cut yarn end (leave 10cm yarn end).

Use hook to bring out the yarn end.

Then conceal end repeatedly.

Body of tomato is completed.

5 small leaves need to be completed on the magic ring.

Crochet 6 ch firstly.

Show as picture( red arrow)-starting from the second to last stitch,then crochet hdc for the first small leaf.

5 hdc is completed.

Hdc motion；( yarn over–Insert the hook into the stitch—pull up a loop— three loops on hook.—–Yarn over once and pull through all three loops located on the hook.—–get one loop on the hook.

Slip stitch(sl) on the magic ring again, which is completed for small leaf.

Need crochet repeat four times for four small leaves again.

5 small leaves are completed.

Put the handle carrying in the middle of the five small leaves, that is, the center of the magic ring. After tightening the yarn end of magic ring, we will see that the handle carrying will be completely stuck in the middle.
We turned the fabric over and saw that there were 4 yarn ends left, which were divided into two strands and knotted many times.

Put the leaves on the R15. I used glue.

Don’t glue all the leaves to the tomato fabric, as this will make it look clumsy.

Eyes :At the R10, we use a yarn needle and use black yarn to sew out the shape of the eyes.

Mouth: At the R8: right below the eyes, sewing the shape of mouth.

Cheek: At the R8:this is in the same round as the mouth, we sewing the shape of cheek.

Then we get cute tomato.
